When Traditional Arts Faces Threat on its Rules - Dawn of Modern Arts

Botong Francisco Artwork - Philippines Arts
There was a tension between the traditional and modern artists that led the traditional artists to walk out.

I think that the reason why there was a tension between is that the traditional artists wants to retain the culture of a certain country through arts but the modern artists want something new, something different that would make a record in the world.

The traditional artists walked out because of the modern artists.

We all know that the thinking of the people changes all the time and the traditional artists were only a few.

I think this is the reason why there was a tension between the traditional and modern artists.

The Modernism of the Art in the Philippines was emerged or sprouted because of the influences came from the different countries around the world like in Europe and United States.

Also, when people adapt new things when it comes to art because most of us likes art so much, and every time a person join on an art/painting competition-exhibition, there mentality will remember the new techniques he/she has discover and put it on a painting from different kinds of people.

The artwork of Carlos “Botong” Francisco who is the Pageant of Commerce shows the Filipino family surrounded by commerce and trade activities throughout Philippine history.

In this kind of art, I can truly say that we can know a  lot about our history, of what their livelihood looks like many years ago and what kind of living they do for them to survive.

Vicente Manansala’s Fish Vendor shows two women wearing veils to protect them from the heat of the sun and their fishes in front of them.

My evaluation in this is that it gives a very good about the fish vendor.

Part of Modern Arts in the Philippines
That we should not bully them but respect and admire their work which is not very easy, that selling fish is not that easy and it is sad if no people buy their fishes.

All of the works of the Filipino artists shows a good meaning but those two I mentioned above is much better than the others because the meaning of those two arts can really be seen in the actual event of our lives.

We can know the meaning of life from those two arts; the “Fish Vendors” and the “Pageant of Commerce”.

The modern artworks shows us the variety of possibilities in the use of subject matter, styles, techniques and mediums used by the modern Filipino artists, clearly a departure from the traditional classical styles of art.

They possess the characteristics of modern art which break the rules of classical art representation, dominated by the use of techniques and experimentation and provoked careful decoding of meaning on the part of the viewer.

New techniques, what the modern artists learned were applied to their artworks from others.
