Pit Señor - Annual Celebration "Sinulog Festival" in Cebu City

Stage presentation about Sinulog Festival
The Sinulog festival is one of the biggest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines with a very rich and vibrant history. The main festival is held every third Sunday of January in Cebu City in honor of the Santo Niño (Holy Child), or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of  Cebu (since in the Catholic faith Jesus is not a saint, but God,so the patron saint is changed to Our Lady of Guadalupe). It is basically a dance ritual which reminds the Filipino people’s pagan past and their acceptance of the Catholic Christianity.

This festival shows some the country’s most colorful displays of pomp and pageantry: participants garbed in bright-colored costumes dance to the rhythm of drums, trumpets, and native gongs. The streets and every corners are usually lined with vendors and pedestrians all wanting to witness the street-dancing. Smaller versions of the festival are also held in different parts of the province, also to celebrate and honor the Santo Niño. Another event is the Sinulog sa Kabataan, which will be done by the youths of Cebu one week before the Festival itself, the Grand Parade.

Quick Travel Tips and Guide around Philippines

One of the seven wonders of the world, located in Palawan - This is the Puerto Princesa Underground River

Philippines is a great place to visit for vacation and family travel around a cheap and tropical country. There are many nice places to visit. There are very lots of useful online travel pages to do with Philippine trips. If you are a man, it is fairly safe for you to travel in Philippines except for the southern island of Mindanao. If you are a woman, it is not safe to travel alone in Philippines, unless you know the culture. The Philippines is not a place you can back pack practically. There are many inexpensive places to stay Pension Houses or small resorts typically charge as little as $20.00 USD a night. Most local food is very good and inexpensive especially seafood and fruit. Budget a $100.00 USD a day for five star accommodations but you could spend less or much more just depends on what you do and the places you stay in.

The Filipino people generally are the nicest you will find any place on earth especially outside of the major cities. The countryside is called the “Provinces” and this is the nicest place to visit because the people are very friendly or sometimes somewhat shy.

Don’t bring expensive electronic toys or jewelry and use your ATM card. Another tip is that never ever keep large amount of cash on your pocket or bag. Use an ATM to get enough cash to keep you going a few days at a time. Most medium sized towns have a bank with an ATM machine. Be sure to get cash before Friday as that is payday and the machines will have long lines and run out of money throughout the weekend.

Use common sense for safety, do not travel at night and do not ever interact with drunk Filipinos to avoid trouble. One thing, avoid policemen even because even if you are a victim of a minor crime, you could be accused of doing higher crimes.. Some foreigners are scammers as are a few Filipinos so that is why never ever exchange money with someone on the street but only in a bank or any official and secure money exchange establishment.

Vaudeville, Electronic, Chance, Minimalist - The Music Styles of Filipinos

San Carlos Seminary Music Performance - Awit Bahandi at SM Mall, Cebu
As far as many Filipinos know, their are different styles of music. These different styles of music will help us to appreciate more on music. This is also another way so that we can understand and be touched by the wonders of music. Sometimes when Filipinos listen to such music, they could cry , laugh, and imagination arise which will enhance our well-being. As typical Filipinos, we really love music and we can't deny it even if we can't really understand some styles we still love it because that particular music has its own style and passion.

Musical styles today are very creative and well organized because of the help of the technology lately. Here are some styles  during the 20th and 21st centuries.

Importance of Regular Health Examination

Health Examination importance
A regular health examination is important because it is used to evaluate the health status, screen for risk factors and diseases, and provide preventive counseling interventions in an age-appropriate manner.

The goals of or rather the goal of screening and evaluation is to prevent the onset of disease or the worsening of an existing disease.

A further goal of the periodic health examination is to educate patients about behavioral patterns or environmental exposures that pose risk for future diseases.
It is the process of determining or diagnosing a person’s health status and detecting the presence of physical defects or impaired health.

When Traditional Arts Faces Threat on its Rules - Dawn of Modern Arts

Botong Francisco Artwork - Philippines Arts
There was a tension between the traditional and modern artists that led the traditional artists to walk out.

I think that the reason why there was a tension between is that the traditional artists wants to retain the culture of a certain country through arts but the modern artists want something new, something different that would make a record in the world.

The traditional artists walked out because of the modern artists.

We all know that the thinking of the people changes all the time and the traditional artists were only a few.

MODERN ART IN THE PHILIPPINES

National Park Artist's concept of National Hero
Arts is something amazing to enjoy our lives and express our feelings through this.

Many artists nowadays are painting or expressing it in a unique manner; they already exaggerated their feelings through arts.

For me the reason why the traditional and modern artist have a tension to each other because their opinion in arts collides.

Nativity Story Arts from home
Their ideas won’t work together; they have their own instinct in the near future of drawing.

Modernism was characterized by abstraction ad experimentation with new techniques and materials.

So by the modernize techniques and materials the modernism arts spread all over our country because we want more modernize arts and we love to see creative things in art that we believe that we can't see but it is true in our eyes.

Modern Filipino artists are spreading right now.
Artistic expression through Christmas decoration

They made extraordinary wonders about arts.

They use different shades of colors, abstract and artistic things that could make an art through it.

Some of them use oil canvas, blue gray abstraction and textile.

The only thing that I can say to them is they do their good job and hoping they would improve more and will improve our country through arts.

We must find shelter
We must not let this storm
Caught us in turn

First, it is so calm
But the clouds getting darker
The water is so clear

Moalboal Earthquake 6.9 magnitude 2/6/12 - Southwest Cebu

We all know that our area in Southwest Cebu cannot have those tsunamis like in Japan but things were different that day. Tsunamis cannot be produced because our islands in our area are too close enough. Tsunamis will only be in large body of water. But again because of people rushing around you, you cannot stop thinking, what's going on?

This is my story submitted to this site. Thanks to the owner of this site.

It was about lunch when the floor of our house shook for about 25 to 30 seconds. We moved outside and we saw everyone around us panicked.

We prepared the car and went to higher grounds.
We saw many neighbors packed up and preparing for departure to higher grounds.

Philippines - Most amazing place of the planet

National Park in the Philippines, Luneta Park
Doing what we really like is a good thing and one good thing is treating yourself for a very nice relaxation. There are many things to relax and one of the wonderful things to cool yourself is to go to visit nice places like amusement parks, beaches, nature views, etc.

Now let us tackle nature's beauty, the beach. Beach is one of the typical place to collect and reflect yourself.

I found a good idea to have a satisfying beach vacation. We have many beaches here in the country but the questions are what, where, when, how? Beaches in our country are good, no doubt about that but what about our pockets?

Travel around Philippine Islands, Bohol and Moalboal

The beach in Bohol Island
If we are asked why people like to travel, I think people travel to the other places to have relaxation and meet new friends.
But then what is travel? The first thing comes in our mind is to go from one place to another. And also traveling is common way to relax of the people these days.
For example you want to go Manila, Philippines in which you want to see many wonderful places to visit and taking the picture is a must for posting in Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Traveling also feels us the enjoyable feelings but there is also sadness because other people who prefer to travel alone in which they cannot afford the ticket or lack of budget.
When I was a child, I wish to travel all around of the Philippines because I want to see the world wonderfully; I want to see anything that I’ve never seen before.
The first came to my mind was I like to travel to Bohol even though it was hot there and sunny season.

Philippine celebration of Christmas season starts every September, because we notice that it is the beginning of the "ber" months meaning, going to the month of Decem "ber" which is the Christmas month.
I have been celebrating Christmas many years around my hometown since I was a child. Only this time that I write some exciting and the most amazing Christmas I've ever had. I get closer to God, know the greatest value of a FAMILY and able to change myself into a better person.
I am exciting in a sense that I find this Christmas different from my experience before. Came from a poor family, I just go to church and go home, sleep early or drink with friends every Christmas season in my hometown. This time, I have this new family which is very religious, very dedicated hard worker, has higher philosophy in life and above average level family in the society.
